Debra Medina, new star of America’s right, is firing up the race for Texas governor
…still wearing the outfit she had in Lytle. But when it comes to speeches Medina is no Sarah Palin. She has no need to write on her hand to remember her talking points. Instead her speech was a complex walk through her extreme anti-government philosophy, citing sources as varied as the Austrian school of economics, St Augustine and modern French philosophers. She said she wanted to get rid of property taxes and allow Texans to do whatever they wanted with anything they owned, whether that was dig for oil or build an extension. There was, she said, no constitutional basis for a federal Department of Education or an Environmental Protection Agency or the Federal Reserve. Texas should assert its rights almost as a nation-state, controlling over its own National Guard units. The disdain for government was visceral. The American way, she said, was simple. “There are two rights essential to freedom: private property and gun ownership.”

Historical Perspective – Debra Medina absolutely can get in this run-off!
The latest update by the Medina campaign talked a little about the historical 1978 Clements/Hill campaigns and how it can be encouraging to those of us support Medina. I did a little research and these are some interesting facts I came up with which gives me even more encouragement that we can absolutely get in this run-off.
The documentation below covers interesting points in the general election of 1978. Earlier parts of the document cover the primary race so that is a distinction. However the similarities are the discouraging poll results from news and outside pollsters. And although in-house polls were more encouraging there was never one that showed Bill Clements ahead. The other major similarity is the huge turnout in that election and what that meant.
There had been no Republican governor in 105 years yet Clements squeaked in winning by 1 and 1/2 votes per precinct! Incredible isn’t it? One thing that hit me was the last minute attack on Bill Clements – it reminds me of the Beck-Jones nonsense. I also didn’t realize that some of the newspapers actually declared John Hill (the Democrat) as the winner of the Gubernatorial race in 1978. The polls in this race (according to this documentation) seemed to be all over the place and a Krueger poll had Clements behind at 35% to Hill’s 51% on October 28th, just a few days before the election.
If this isn’t enough to give Medina supporters a shot in the arm I don’t know what is. I couldn’t quit reading about that historical race once I started. The message is – keep on going until that last vote is in and we CAN get Debra in the run-off!
Perry gives 1.4 Million to Facebook – he owns the TX media why not Facebook?
My reaction? This is NOT about economic development, this is about buying votes. The deal isn’t even sealed yet but the press is all over it. Why do you think this offer with its prediction of 200-600 jobs depending on the article you read, is getting this kind of play in the press, when in the past all of these “slush fund” deals have been under the radar? Slick Rick is buying votes with his slush fund and he thinks this announcement of new job creation will work in his favor in the polls. Of course no one stops to think about who will be hired and from where. If the new hires are out of work people in Texas that might make this opportunistic announcement a little more palatable but that will probably not be the case. Facebook will interview people from all over the country for these jobs and theoretically not one Texan could be hired. Regardless, votes are being bought with taxpayer money and I resent it. King Richard must go! Vote Debra Medina if you want honesty and fairness returned to Texas politics.
Rockefeller Institute ranks Texas 3rd from last in economic recovery rate
“This latest report ranks Texas third to last in the country—while states like North Carolina, California and Massachusetts are leading the recovery. That’s a result no Texan can be proud of,” Medina said.
“It’s increasingly clear that the same old big government solutions—increasing state spending more than Democrat Ann Richards and having more unemployment than Democrat Mark White—is not the best conservative Republican solution to Texas’ economic woes,” said Medina.
“Rick Perry and his cronies still have their jobs, but an increasing number of Texans don’t—and the new figures released today make clear, Texas government can’t come close to cashing the checks that Rick Perry’s budget is trying to write,” Medina added.
Get Ready for the Spin but don’t be discouraged
Many people were so disappointed in Glenn Beck when he set up Debra Medina, candidate for Texas Governor, on a recent radio program. But after some logical thought and “connecting the dots” like Glenn himself suggests that his audience should do, there is no doubt that this would be the position of FOX network…Glenn’s employer and [...]
The dumbing down of Texas as reported by the Public Policy Polling Co.
Texans would rather elect liars and thieves rather than someone who they believe might support an “out of the Collectivism” opinion on an issue. It breaks my heart that my fellow Texans are either too lazy or stupid to investigate a controversy and come to a conclusion. But more than that it breaks my heart that Texans have become so conditioned that anyone who doesn’t think “collectively” or in the “mainstream” as pundits like to put it, can be ostracized for their thoughts. What the poll says is that people would rather elect liars and athieves than someone who defends freedom of thought. OK, Texas, for once you have a choice of a real person instead of an arrogant elitist. Are you going to blow it – or break out of the Matrix and put your money where your mouth has been for the last decades and vote for a REAL person? Vote Debra Medina Still on the fence? Here are some more Rick Perry facts that should make you sick at your stomach.
Perry mimics Medina’s platform – the greatest form of flattery…
or just lying to the people again? All of a sudden Rick Perry is suing the EPA and has a new commercial supporting the 10th Amendment which keeps the federal government from overreaching into state affairs. Of course they are only questioning the economic impact of the latest EPA laws – not the federal government’s right to impose them. Debra Medina has had these two issues as part of her platform since she began this race.
One thing you will never see Perry quote is the following Supreme Court decision. This is a quote from the website citing the Supreme Court ruling:
Scalia warned, “The federal government may neither, issue directives requiring the States to address particular problems, nor command the States’ officers, or those of their political subdivisions, to administer or enforce a federal regulatory program. Such commands are fundamentally incompatible with our constitutional system of dual sovereignty.”
