The dumbing down of Texas as reported by the Public Policy Polling Co.
Texans would rather elect liars and thieves rather than someone who they believe might support an “out of the Collectivism” opinion on an issue. It breaks my heart that my fellow Texans are either too lazy or stupid to investigate a controversy and come to a conclusion. But more than that it breaks my heart that Texans have become so conditioned that anyone who doesn’t think “collectively” or in the “mainstream” as pundits like to put it, can be ostracized for their thoughts. What the poll says is that people would rather elect liars and a thieves than someone who defends freedom of thought.
The Public Policy Polling Company just released a new poll showing that close to 1/2 of those surveyed thought Debra Medina either was or could be a “Truther”. Of course the poll did not ask what anyone thought about the millions that Governor Perry has wasted on the new 2,000 sq. foot addition to the Governor’s mansion or the millions that are unaccounted for in state agencies or what they thought about Kay Hutchison taking almost 6M in money from financial institutions that she subsequently voted to “bail out”!
Anyone who actually listened to the hit job interview with Glenn Beck which stirred this controversy would know that what Debra said was that there had been legitimate questions raised and that she didn’t know enough about it to take a position. This was in reference to the official 9-11 report which is what she thought Glenn Beck was referring to. The report blasted the government for not being forthcoming with information. Could she have answered better – yes! Was there anything wrong with her answer – no! The only thing wrong with it was it left the door open for Rick Perry, Kay Hutchison, the GOP and Glenn Beck to do quite a good “hit job” on her. And for this she has paid dearly.
There are two points I want to make here: Debra never implied she was a “truther” what she did say is that people have a right to question government – the same thing that Glenn Beck has been saying for over a year on Fox news where this position has raised him to the top ratings on that station.
40% of the polling sample were for Rick Perry. There is so much dirt on Rick Perry that if Debra weren’t running I’d probably just not vote. Here is a sample:
On 12-1-09 Wayne Slater posted on his Political Blog for the Dallas MorningNews today, some recent donation figures to the Perry Campaign. They are as follows:
- “Perry got $50,000 in September from the Texas Realtors political action committee.
- He got $35,000 from the state home builders PAC and $25,000 from the politically well-connected Hillco lobby shop, whose big giver is Houston home builder Bob Perry.
- Other big-dollar checks Rick Perry has received since July: $25,000 from the Texas Apartment Association,
- $10,000 from the nursing home industry,
- $25,000 from Houston horse and dog racing executive Charles Hurwitz’s PAC,
- $25,000 from the optometrists and $25,000 from the BG Distribution wine and beer wholesalers.
- Although highway administrators have declared Perry’s Trans-Texas Corridor project dead, the governor continues to collect from toll-road interests — $25,000 from the political action committee for Houston construction executive James Dannenbaum and $22,000 from toll consulting giant Hntb Holdings.”
Rick Perry gives a speech at a Tea Party rally but all he does is promote TAXING, TOLLING, BIG SPENDING and BIG GOVERNMENT. What is the real record of Big Government Advocate Rick Perry?
1) TRANS TEXAS CORRIDOR and the gargantuan, multi-billion dollar toll road fiasco with its “Comprehensive Development Agreements” (CDAs). The TTC and the toll roads are the biggest TAXING, SPENDING, BORROWING AND TOLLING INCREASE in the history of Texas! The toll road scam screws Texas taxpayers, consumers, drivers and landowners. Big Government Advocate Rick Perry shoved toll roads down the throats of millions of Texans. It is a prime example of the big government, pro-tax, pro-toll, pro debt agenda of Big Government Advocate Rick Perry. Toll roads and CDAs are ticking TIME BOMBS of DEBT.
2) How about that BUSINESS MARGINS TAX that Big Government Advocate Rick Perry pushed through in 2007? These victims have to pay taxes on some formula of the total revenue of their companies. That means these small companies pay taxes on revenue, not income or profits. So you still pay taxes even if you are losing money!!
3) Big Government Advocate Rick Perry tried to mandate that all the young girls in Texas be FORCED to take an HPV VACCINE! That was a tremendous invasion into the FAMILY LIVES of millions of Texans and this idiotic Big Brother stunt is reason enough to vote for anyone but Rick Perry. Big Government Advocate Rick Perry wants to stick a needle filled with a possibly dangerous, probably ineffective chemical into the arms of every 12 year old girl in Texas.
4) It was really tragic for Big Government Advocate Rick Perry to support the raid in the FLDS community and removal of 439 children from their parents on the basis of an out-of-state CRANK phone call. Think of all the tears, trauma and family destruction that Rick Perry and an out-of-control Child “Protective” Services caused when they tore apart hundreds of lives. As of today, all but ONE of the children have been sent back to their parents. This was a clear case of RELIGIOUS OPPRESSION by Big Government Advocate Rick Perry and CPS.
5) How about BORROWING $3 Billion for medical research pork barrel in that Lance Armstrong cancer deal? Big Government Advocate Rick Perry in action. Or the $5 door fee TITTY BAR TAX Rick Perry supported to TAX every patron of a topless club? What garbage, he wants to oppress strippers and their patrons now! Whether you are at home, driving on a road, running a business, raising a daughter, or dancing at a topless bar, Big Government Advocate Rick Perry wants to ride shotgun with you, taxing you, tolling you, and sticking needles in your daughter.
