Yes, Medina supporters were used!
From an article in the Austin American Statesman, it seems some of the people who attended the Nullification Rally on Saturday, felt that had been co-opted or used.
I want to share my feelings concerning this event. I contacted John Stacey several times prior to this event and as a Medina supporter would have attended, but I smelled a rat from the start. I first asked if he supported nullification why was Debra’s name or picture no where to be found on his web site, when the had all the favorable pictures and the Perry quote. He said he had never thought about it looking like the site was supporting Perry. He just wanted Perry to pledge to support nullification.
He claimed he was a good friend of Debra’s. Because I am a Medina supporter, I wanted to believe him. He did eventually put up a quote by Debra. Then when I learned he wanted Debra to attend the event to “mingle “in the crowd, but not to speak, I knew I would not be attending. It was obvious he and his group wanted (needed) the Medina supporters, but at the same time wanted to seek favor with Perry and his supporters.
This is arrogant, two faced and the typical elitist mentality. They want us, ordinary people, to believe they are on our side, while they use us for their own agenda and political gain. All of us involved in the tea party and 9-12 events saw the Republicans try to use these to their advantage.
The events would be put forth as non-political, but every event I attended had Republican candidates either speaking or collecting signatures to get on the ballot, while those of us supporting Debra were told, “we could not speak on Debra’s behalf because it was non-political.”
The more support Debra gets the more people are going to be trying to use her and us, like the “bone” KBH threw Debra during the debate, to get her to challenge Perry. We all need to be on our toes. I agree with Jonsie, “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on ME!”
